At the Same Table: Didim’s New Community Initiative Starts Tomorrow

Join Mayor Hatice Gençay at the ‘At the Same Table for Our Neighborhood’ meetings in Didim. The first session starts tomorrow in Efeler. Your voice matters!

Didim Municipality is launching a brand-new initiative titled ‘At the Same Table for Our Neighborhood,’ designed to bring local residents and officials together to discuss local needs, with the first meeting scheduled for tomorrow in Efeler.

As someone who has called this beautiful part of the world home for two decades, I’ve seen many local initiatives come and go. However, there is something uniquely refreshing about the direct approach being taken by our Mayor, Hatice Gençay. The goal of these gatherings is simple yet vital: to listen to the views, suggestions, and demands of residents directly on their own home turf.

Direct Communication with Mayor Hatice Gençay

The inaugural session of these community-focused gatherings will take place at 16:30 tomorrow, conveniently located right in front of the Efeler Neighborhood Muhtar’s office. Mayor Hatice Gençay will be attending in person to engage with the residents of Efeler. This is a prime opportunity for the local community, including our vibrant international expat population, to highlight the specific needs and daily challenges of their neighborhood.

Building on Previous Successes

This initiative isn’t a completely new concept but rather a refined evolution of previous efforts. Last year, the municipality successfully ran the ‘Listening to My Neighborhood’ scheme. Under the new administration, this has been rebranded and restructured as ‘At the Same Table for Our Neighborhood.’ The change in name suggests a shift towards a more collaborative, partnership-based approach to town management.

Why Your Voice Matters in Didim

The meetings are not intended to be one-sided lectures. Instead, they are designed as a platform where local issues, infrastructure requirements, and potential solutions can be evaluated together. For those of us living in Didim and Akbük, these meetings provide a direct line to the decision-makers. By participating, we can ensure that the diverse perspectives of all residents are considered when planning the future of our districts. The municipality aims to use the feedback gathered directly from the field to shape their upcoming projects and service priorities.
